Thank heavens for women like you.I heard your interwiev and keep up the good work.I am not a of any formal religion because I do not trust any of them with their male dominance and the way they have interpreted the text.I dont care what people wear if it is done from free will, but I do object to the burka in this country as I feel uncomfortable not seeing someones face when dealing with them.

Elizabeth,
Burka is not about you, its about the person wearing it and their own comfort in it. It should not be made compulsory, but if someone wants to wear burka then they should be free to do so. I also believe that authorities should be able to verify the ID of anyone whenever deemed necessary.

I listened with great interest to your discussion with Rachael Kohn. It was truly refreshing to hear the voice of a moderate Islamic woman speaking out against some of the repressive aspects of male dominated Islam. Too often the only representatives we see and hear speaking about your religion are conservatives and radicals or non-Muslims. We are of different faiths but I felt ‘as one’ with you and your views. All power to you in your courageous struggle for mercy, decency and equality.

Like Elisabeth, I too enjoyed listening to you on The Spirit of Things on ABC Radio today. The importance and urgency of your message touched me deeply.
You changed my perception of muslim women – it was wonderful to hear your strong, confident voice speaking out for what is essentially human rights.
I am now a follower of your blog, and have requested your friendship on facebook. I hope you’ll accept.

How refreshing to hear your views, Mona, on the Rachael Kohn interview. I am a Christian woman, but as women seeking God, we have so much in common and it’s great to hear your perspective on so many topics. Keep up the great work!
