CNN and CBC on Bin Laden pictures

I was on “In the Arena” with Elliot Spitzer to talk about why Pres. Obama didn’t release pictures of a dead Osama Bin Laden.

On CBC Connect I discussed reasons behind the frat-boy scenes of celebrations we’ve seen at Ground Zero.

Bin Laden orchestrated an attack on the United States that resulted in the deaths of thousands of people. He was subsequently killed by US military personnel. Justice was done. Legality is a fuzzy concept that often bears no resemblance to justice.

Should we have attempted to extradite the man, thus allowing his supporters in Pakistan to warn him and letting him escape justice yet again?

Any foreign national who kills an American… and that now includes you, Mona… should be hunted down and killed by the military, no matter what dark and slimy hole they hide in.

Why bother releasing the photos? As Hebah said, in the age of Photoshop or the GIMP, photos can too easily be faked… just as videos of the man still alive could be faked. Visual evidence is no longer proof, if it ever was, and as I (and Dirk) can assure you, photographs have been faked since the early days even going back to Dauguerotypes.

I agree that drunken parties are not appropriate. I did not participate… and most other Americans didn’t either. Those are the ones that got the media attention, though. It made for good theater… and good theater to sell newspapers and television air time is what its all about.

As to closing Gitmo, what would you do with the inmates? Their own countries won’t take them. Should they be released into American society? Put into our civilian prison system? I think the tropical vacation they are enjoying is much too comfortable, but I have no alternative to propose, so there they should stay. What would be your solution?

I can´t believe that in 2011, a civilized country like America, executes a man, who claims he has nothing to do with 911.
He had no honest trial in court. America had no hard evidence on him. He was still innocent, because he wasn´t proven guilty without a shadow of a doubt by a judge. That is what I think is justice.

And what shocked me the most, was that so many people, even the prime-minister of Holland, didn’t say anything about this. Didn’t even question this execution!!!!! Instead they were partying and smiling. I am angry, really angry, for this so called Justice. It seems America hasn’t really evolved since 1492, shooting innocent people in a country which isn’t their own and get away with it, while the whole world is watching!! Sorry to be so blunt.

So many people know that 911 was weird business, where buildings were falling on their own, with the speed of a free fall, even without planes flying into them.

And as predicted in my head the moment I heard the news about Osama…no photo’s and no body.

I pray that Osama rests in peace. I pray that Obama can live with himself, with what he (claims) to have done and is happy with his rise in popularity.

The world is a stage…… Make your own theater! Research the news and don’t believe anything you’re told, just because it is on big screen all over the world. So is Sesame’s Street.

And Mona, bless you, for being you!! Love your work!
